Kolob Canyon Adventure

Belaycafe had another wonderful opportunity to do some canyoning work with Zion Mountain School.

We spent 3 days with them last year and decided to spend another 2 refining and learning new skills to have fun and keep us safe while canyoning in the slot canyons of Southern Utah.

This time we learned how to rescue or remove a injured member of our party, plus how to deal with problems during the rappel – whether it be a knot in the line or coming up short on a rappel and deciding if the drop was short enough to drop off safely.

We also learned some new belay/rappel techniques, ensuring we’re efficient and safe when out in the canyons.

The 2nd day we decided to switch it up and go climbing with our guide. We headed out to St. George out at the bluffs beating ourselves up and finishing with an awesome 11.b.

Zion Mountain School is a must for anyone looking for adventures guides, gear rental or to purchase gear for their own adventures. They have a great selection of gear to match the wealth of knowledge all the guides have to offer.
